Patient Health Education
The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) has a comprehensive Patient Health Education (PHE) Program, which provides a variety of activities, programs, and services. Doctors, nurses, psychologists, and dietitians participate in teaching and planning programs to meet your health education needs. Most programs are available to all Veterans, employees, volunteers, and their families. These include: Carbohydrate Counting; Cholesterol Management; Diabetes Group; Emotional Regulation Group; Healthy Thinking; Individual Nutrition Therapy, Living with Chronic Pain; Living With Diabetes; My CD (Manage Your Chronic Disease); MOVE! Program; Medical Issues Support Group; Ostomy Support Group; Overcoming Depression; Living With Chronic Medical Conditions; Prostate Cancer Support Group; PTSD Skills Class; PTSD Anxiety Class; Sleep Better; Smoking Cessation Drop in Class; My HealtheVet; Weight Reduction Class; OEF/OIF/OND Moving Forward; STEPS; Stress Management; and Z-ACT (Zia Assistive Computerized Technology).
