VA Medical Center to Host Baby Shower

May 14, 2018

ALBUQUERQUE – The Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center will host a baby shower on May 16 in Albuquerque for area veterans welcoming a new baby.

"Our goal is to increase awareness of VA benefits for maternity care, and support veterans during and after their pregnancies," said Michelle Tirado, Women Veterans Program Manager for the New Mexico VA Health Care System.

The baby shower will take place from 4-7 p.m. in the medical center’s main building (#41) within the PI conference room, and registration is required.  Several new and expecting parents already have signed up for this opportunity to network with their fellow veteran parents and parents-to-be. Many of the items the families will take home from the shower have been donated by individuals, local and national companies.

Albuquerque is one of 60 sites across the country to participate in this nationwide baby shower. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is supporting baby showers at VA sites across the country, recognizing over 2,400 new veteran parents and parents-to-be in 2018.  Around two million of America's veterans are women.

For more information or to register, please call the medical center’s Women’s Health Care Program office at (505)-265-1711, ext. 5616.
