An Opportunity to Salute Veteran Patients

January 18, 2018

Print Version (MS Word)

ALBUQUERQUE – The Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque invites the public to thank our military veterans for their service Feb. 11-17 during the National Salute to Veteran Patients.

This annual event happens the week around Valentine’s Day and gives everyone a chance to let those who have given so much to our nation know that they are not forgotten.

People of all ages are once again sending Valentine’s Day cards and letters to VA medical centers across the country, simply addressed “Dear Veteran.”  The cards will be distributed to patients throughout the medical center, as well as VA community based outpatient clinics.

In past years, visitors during this special week have come from local schools, government agencies, service organizations and military units. We recommend visits on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Individuals or groups wishing to visit with veterans during Salute Week or serve as volunteers should call the medical center’s Voluntary Service office at (505) 256-2771.
