Print Version (MS Word)

ALBUQUERQUE –   New Mexico veterans ages 55 and older are encouraged to participate in the 32nd Annual National Veterans Golden Age Games (NVGAG).  This year’s games will take place Aug. 3-8, 2018, in Albuquerque at various venues, including the Albuquerque Convention Center. The event is hosted by a different city each year.

“The ultimate success of this event will depend on our ability to recruit a large number of volunteers from the community,” said Jerhald “Jery” Burgoa, Local Organizing Committee Chairman for the 2018 NVGAG.  “We’re asking local organizations and individuals to help us by providing about 2,500 volunteers.  We also are in need of sponsors for the Games to help cover the tremendous costs related to this event.”

The “Games of Enchantment” will offer ambulatory, visually impaired and wheelchair divisions, with each divided into age categories.  Competition events include basketball, air rifle, badminton (singles and doubles), boccia (singles and doubles), bowling, pickleball, cycling, field (discus, javelin, shot put), golf, horseshoes, nine ball, power walk, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis and track.  Participants must sign up to take part in four competitive events.
