Gourd Dance at VA Medical Center

July 6, 2017

Print Version (MS Word)

ALBUQUERQUE – Representatives of many American Indian Nations will gather at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque on July 15 for the 12th annual VA Veterans Gourd Dance.

The dance will be from 12 to 6 p.m. (weather permitting) on the south end of the parade grounds near the facility’s San Mateo Blvd. entrance at Gibson Blvd.

“Veterans reunite with a Gourd Dance to realign their journey, reorganize with prayers, revitalize with unison of songs and get messages of healing from Grandpa Drum,” said Tilford C. Brown of the New Mexico VA Health Care System’s American Indian Special Emphasis Committee, which is sponsoring the dance.

For more information, please call Tilford Brown at (505) 265-1711, extension 2203.
