Veterans Creative Arts Festival Results

The NMVAHCS’ 6^th Annual Veterans Creative Arts Festival was held in early March. This was our largest Arts Festival so far in terms of entries and second largest in terms of veterans participating.  There were 163 entries and 86 veterans competed in the areas of Visual Arts, Dance, Music and Creative Writing.  There were 43 first place winners in Art, 2 first place winners in Dance, 13 first place winners in Music and 5 first place winners in Creative Writing.

All first place winners will compete nationally through digital images or VHS tapes which are sent to judges who compare our winners with winners from the other competing VA facilities.  Results will be shared during May and through July.  In 2007, we had 8 National Medal winners including 4 individuals who were invited to go to the National Festival held in St. Louis last October.  The 2008 National Creative Arts Festival will be held in Riverside, California in October.  We take pride in all of the veterans who entered art work or performed and we are hoping for the best for this year!
